Getting to Your Ideal Body Shape with Laser-Assisted Liposuction

Getting to Your Ideal Body Shape with Laser-Assisted Liposuction

Getting to your ideal body shape can be very frustrating. You cut calories and exercise, yet stubborn deposits of fat still cling to your body, masking the more toned you underneath.

Through liposuction, we can successfully clear away these stubborn pockets of fat, which explains why it’s the most common surgical cosmetic procedure in the United States, with more than 405,000 procedures in 2020 alone.

While liposuction is a fantastic body-shaping solution, our team here at Advanced Surgeons takes it one step further with laser-assisted liposuction, which is a gentler, yet equally as effective, approach to fat reduction and body contouring.

In the following, we explore how our laser-assisted liposuction technology can help clear away those pesky fat deposits to get you to your ideal body shape.

Beyond traditional liposuction

With traditional liposuction, you’re placed under general anesthesia, then the surgeon uses a special device to loosen and suction out fat. This can be a fairly violent and disruptive process that often leaves patients quite bruised and sore afterward, to say nothing of those patients who didn’t react well to the anesthesia.

At our practice, we have a much better approach thanks to several improvements in the liposuction technology, including:

Local anesthesia

Instead of using general anesthesia, we use only local anesthesia. More specifically, we inject a saline solution into your treatment area to expand the site, and this solution also contains a local anesthetic that numbs the area and constricts your blood vessels. This constriction minimizes vascular disturbance, which, in turn, minimizes bruising afterward.

Laser assistance

Once we inject the saline and local anesthetic into your target areas, we insert a device that emits ultrasound energy into the surrounding fat cells. This energy doesn’t harm your tissues, but it does emulsify the fat cells. This makes suctioning out your fat much easier since it’s in more of a liquid form.

As you can see, laser-assisted liposuction is less invasive, less risky, quicker, and highly effective.

Getting to your body shape

Since there’s less disturbance with laser-assisted lipo, your recovery time is much shorter. That said, you may experience some bruising, swelling, and discomfort for a short while afterward, so we advise you to take it easy for the first few days.

Once these short-lived side effects subside, you’ll be thrilled to see your new body shape gradually emerge, which can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months, depending on how quickly your body responds.

If you want to put the finishing touches on your dieting and exercise efforts with laser-assisted liposuction, please don’t hesitate to contact one of our offices in Valhalla, Carmel, or Poughkeepsie, New York, to schedule a consultation.
