Mary Murray, RN, BSN, CBN - I am a registered nurse with a certification in bariatric nursing. I graduated from nursing school in 1980 and have been practicing professional nursing ever since. In most recent years, I have had the honor of working with the morbidly obese population of patients and more specifically, weight loss surgery patients. Working with the bariatric team at Westchester Medical Center is a very fulfilling experience and each day I look forward to assisting our patients through every stage of their weight loss journey

Janet Borra, RD - I have been a registered dietitian for 11 years and have been working with bariatric patients in the outpatient setting for the past 2 years. Prior to that, I worked at Westchester Medical Center for 9 years and covered the burn center, neuro ICU, trauma ICU and trauma floor. Part of my patient population included the bariatric patients. I have worked with bariatric patients both inpatient and outpatient for 10 years.

In addition to counseling patients, I teach a class weekly to prepare patients for upcoming surgery. Part of my responsibilities also includes speaking at the information seminars as well as educational seminars. We hold a bi-monthly support group which myself and the bariatric coordinator facilitate. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the changes people make both pre- and post-op and how patient’s lives are changed and are effected by the surgery. It is a pleasure to know I am part of that process.

Patricia Tallio, MS, RD, CDE - I have been a registered dietitian for 20 years working in many different clinical settings. I have been certified as a diabetes educator for 10 years with experience counseling patients with the diagnosis of diabetes in the outpatient as well as the inpatient setting. Prior to joining Surgical Intensivists I worked for an eating disorder outpatient program. I feel my professional experience allow me to be an effective counselor and educator of nutrition care for the bariatric patient.
